Accreditation
The Institute for Guided Studies (IGS) is a member of the Montessori Educational Programs International (MEPI). MEPI certified programs at the Infant Toddler, Early Childhood, Elementary, Adolescent, and Administrator levels are available. All IGS Graduates receive their Montessori Credentials from MEPI.
The program for Administrators, Directed by Dr. John Moncure and the Elementary program, directed by Warren and LaVonne McPherson are certified by MEPI. Additionally, IGS Certification Courses for Programs for the Infant Toddler, Early Childhood , Adolescent, and the Elementary programs directed by Beti Wyn Holcombe and Nancy Lindeman, hold accreditation status with Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education through the years 2016, 2014, 2008, and 2012 respectively. MEPI is a private, not-for-profit, organization governed by a member-elected Board of Directors. MEPI formulates policy to meet the current and future needs of its members. MEPI teacher education programs are similar in content and standards, yet are diverse enough to meet individual needs. Programs range from University graduate level, Institutes offering a variety of courses, to individuals focused primarily on Montessori education. All MEPI teacher education programs meet the rigorous standards of excellence adopted by the Montessori Accreditation Commission for Teacher Education.
